How To Make The PC - TV Connection

Watch BitTorrent movies, videos, and TV shows on your TV. Find the type of video connections your PC and TV have below, then click through for more information:

  • VGA (Video Graphics Array)

    VGA Connection

    Many flat-panel TVs have a VGA (video graphics array) input. Your computer has a VGA output port. This connector is where you attach your PC monitor. A VGA cable costs approximately $15 - $30.   • S-Video

    S-Video Connection

    S-Video connections are available on most recent TVs and computers. This is a video only connection. You will still need a separate audio connection (see the S-Video How-To).

  • Composite Video

    Composite Video Connection

    Most older TVs have composite video inputs and many computers have composite video outputs. The cables cost well under $20.

  • Digital Visual Interface (DVI)

    DVI Connection

    Many newer computers, especially those that come equipped with Windows XP Media Center Edition, have a Digital Visual Interface (DVI). Some HDTVs come with DVI as well. Cables cost $30 - $80+.

  • Digital Media Receiver

    Windows XP Media Center PCs are designed to interface with TV and to operate by remote control. You can download and watch BitTorrent movies and video from the comfort of your favorite chair or sofa.

  • Digital Media Adapters, Media Center Extenders (MCX)

    Digital Media Adapters and wireless Media Center Extenders (MCX) are set-top devices that allow you to view BitTorrent movies and videos from any TV that may be in a different room than your main Windows Media Center PC.

  • Xbox 360

    Xbox 360

    You can use your Xbox 360 as a Windows Media Center Extender.

    Required components:

    • An Xbox 360 with Xbox 360 Wireless Media Adapter
    • A PC running Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
    • A wired or wireless (preferably 802.11a) home network
