BitTorrent Video Downloading Guide

With BitTorrent you can download and enjoy movies, TV shows, music videos, games and more. Here’s how:

How to get stuff with BitTorrent

1. First, you need the BitTorrent client. If you don’t have our latest client installed when you go to download a movie or TV show, you will be given the opportunity to download and install the client then. However having the client software in advance will make things easier. Go to the Get BitTorrent link at the top of any page and download and install the client. There are clients available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, but purchased or rented content will only work on Windows at this time.
2. Next, if you want to purchase or rent anything you will need a BitTorrent account. If you don’t already have one, you can click the Sign Up link at the top of our pages. Creating an account ahead of time will make renting or purchasing things easier.
   
3. Find something cool to download. In this example, let's get a movie. Go to the Search field at the top of the page and type “Jackass" in the box and click the search arrow.
4. Our search shows free content, as well as items to rent or purchase. In the search results you see Jackass 2.5 available for purchase and say “Cool, I want that.” You can click on the title to see more details about the film or view a preview, or just click the Buy link to buy the movie.
5. If you have never purchased or rented anything on BitTorrent before, you will be prompted to enter your billing information. You only have to do this the first time you purchase or rent something. We accept Visa, Master Card, Discover Card, and American Express. Check the box agreeing to the Terms of Service and click the Save Changes button.
6. You can now confirm your order. Click the “Place My Order” button.
7. When you place your order, your file will begin to download. It is at this point that you will get the opportunity to download the BitTorrent client, if you have not done so already. The torrent file will open in your BitTorrent client and the download process will begin.
8. The BitTorrent client will save the file where you tell it. When the file has finished downloading, you can highlight the file in the list of downloads and click the Open icon at the top of the client window.
9. Windows Media Player should open. (Make sure you have version 10 or later installed. If you have some other application set to open .wmv files by default, make sure it supports Windows DRM). In a moment you should see a window to enter your BitTorrent user name and password. You only have to do this the first time you view the file. After your purchase is verified, the file will begin to play.
10. That’s it! Keep in mind that a number of the steps in this guide assume you have never signed up or downloaded anything before from us. Once you are set up, it is normally just a matter of finding something, downloading, opening, authorizing and enjoying it.
