Experienced Peer-to-Peer Software Engineer
BitTorrent is looking to hire an exceptional engineer with real peer to peer experience. Candidates must have written code which sends real peer to peer packets over the real internet. Simulation doesn't count. HTTP and everything else RPC-ish doesn't count. If you don't know what that last sentence means, you shouldn't apply.
This is a full time gig. BitTorrent Inc. has been around for a while but still has a significant equity stake as part of compensation. We're in downtown San Francisco, and our application is getting over a quarter of a million new installs per day.

Frontend Engineer
We seek a candidate with experience with:

Product Manager - Apps
The PM for Apps will have responsibility for working on BitTorrent's new "Apps" platform as presented in the uTorrent Labs' Project Griffin. Apps for BitTorrent are built on top of a web-based extensions framework and allow for an almost limitless range of extension functionality that can be enjoyed by our global user base of tens of millions of monthly unique users.
Work is organized around:
- Internal Apps: Working with BitTorrent employees to design and build Apps that will be presented to our user base as optional extensions. Apps will enrich the user experience and will either drive popularity, revenue or both.
- Partner Apps: Supporting a wide range of partners in building and tuning Apps that can be presented to our user base.
The main goals for BitTorrent are:
- easing the discoverability of our software and optimizing the conversion process from new to experienced user
- meeting and exceeding the very high consumer expectations for our category-leading software
- extending consumer usage in ways that drives value to our business strategy
The right candidate will have experience of working with Agile product development methodologies to partner with engineers and designers to build great consumer-focused software products. Experience with customer development methodologies for driving continuous performance improvements is preferred.
The candidate must also have a strong track record in relaying and expressing ideas in a technical forum with lead developers, and various other marketing, business and technical team members.
Additional Requirements:

Product Manager - Conversion and Analytics
The PM for Conversion and Analytics will have responsibility for monitoring conversion data and statistics relating to our ongoing business as well as continuous improvements in usability of BitTorrent's products. This job combines a heavy emphasis on data-driven decision-making with an emphasis on product feature evolution and experimentation.
Work is organized around:
- KPIs: Supporting the ongoing business, including developing, maintaining and monitoring Key Performance Indicators and intervening or escalating when appropriate.
- Customer Development: Supporting ongoing customer development activities to align product development priorities with tangible business outcomes, including designing and running A/B tests, new feature experiments, user surveys and managing a range of other investigations.

Sales Engineer
The Sales Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
Sales Engineers are the primary technical resource for the Business Development team. Sales Engineers are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the Business development as the key technical advisor and product advocate for our products.
The Sales Engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical customer prospects. Must be able to identify all technical issues of assigned accounts to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. Must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle and post implementation.
Responsibilities:
- Development and delivery of product demonstrations
- Representing solutions to customers and at field events such as conferences, seminars, etc.
- Able to respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
- Document and communicate customer requirements to Product Management and Engineering teams
- Coordinate implementation phase of customers and provide on-going support and service consultation, and capitalize on post sale "value confirmation" opportunities
- Travel to customer sites
Qualifications:
- Ideal candidate must be self-motivated with a proven track record in software sales and knowledge of technology.
- Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base
- Must possess strong presentation skills and be able to communicate professionally in written responses to emails & RFPs
- Organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
- 5+ years relevant experience in vendor sales
- 3+ years of experience using Internet technologies, standards and protocols
- Experience and familiarity of our products and line of business a plus
- A B.S. in Computer Science or a related field is strongly preferred

Technical Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Interaction, Graphic or Industrial Design. Architecture, or related field.
- 3+ years interactive design experience.
- Solid portfolio with a range of creative samples that demonstrate relevant work or projects.
- Process-oriented. Ability to work with different UI materials and rapid prototyping.
- Proficiency with Adobe suite of design software.

Windows GUI Developer
BitTorrent is looking for a brilliant Windows GUI Developer with Consumer Product experience. This position will lead the Window GUI Development of µTorrent – an extremely popular consumer product.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Participating in the architecture of the new GUI
- Hands-on front end coding
- Improving users conversion rate
- Improving usability
- Experimenting with different GUI's to attract new types of users
The GUI Developer must also demonstrate the ability to relay and express ideas in a technical forum with lead developers and team members. The ability to clearly communicate with business and system analysts is required, as well as leading the effort to create those new components.
Hands on experience developing at least one successful Windows consumer product is a must.
Additional Requirements:
- 5+ years coding C++, C, or C# on Windows
