Experienced Peer-to-Peer Software Engineer
BitTorrent is looking to hire an exceptional engineer with real peer to peer experience. Candidates must have written code which sends real peer to peer packets over the real internet. Simulation doesn't count. HTTP and everything else RPC-ish doesn't count. If you don't know what that last sentence means, you shouldn't apply.
This is a full time gig. BitTorrent Inc. has been around for a while but still has a significant equity stake as part of compensation. We're in downtown San Francisco, and our application is getting over a quarter of a million new installs per day.
Requirements:
- experience writing peer to peer software
- fluency in C/C++

Marketing Communication
The Marketing Communication position is to define and manage the implementation of marketing communications plans that support the execution of BitTorrent’s Marketing objectives. This position develops initiatives to support and retain the existing user base, as well as to acquire new customers. Manages and drives forward the company’s overall brand reputation. You will be responsible for defining, implementing, developing, and supporting BitTorrent’s Marketing campaigns and activities, market research, and day to day efforts in order to support community growth and effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Define and implement new Marketing communication programs to better engage users
- Identify BitTorrent competition and how BT can stay ahead
- Develop BitTorrent’s online marketing and outreach strategies
- Manage the implementation of marketing communication initiatives that build BitTorrent brand awareness
- Foster a sense of community around the brand by building relationships
- Identify trending topics in the BT community
- Oversee market, competitive, and customer research to understand customer needs and opportunities
- Where needed, participate with company presence at key tradeshow, conference and industry events
- Assist with other marketing related activities
- Author blog posts, articles, podcasts, videos, etc. –to communicate creative uses BitTorrent from the simple to the very complex.
- Identify & engage advocates
- Identify needs that are not being met from the customer’s perspective and implement solutions
- Communicate issues, opportunities and insights to the company.
- Stay up to date on new social media tools, best practices and how other organizations and companies are using them, so that the company can continue to be an early adopter of these technologies.
- Participate in professional networking - Social Media Marketing – Digg, Stumble, Twitter &ellipse;
- Keep Content on our site updated and fresh
Skills:
- Bachelors
- 3+ years professional experience in marketing and/or online community management
- Expert in encouraging communication within social media applications (forums, blogs, etc.)
- Prior high-tech experience preferred and/or a deep love and appreciation of the BitTorrent technology
- Ability to think, plan and execute resourcefully, with minimal supervision
- Outstanding planning, communications, skills, result focused
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, start-up environment
