Jobs at BitTorrent

BitTorrent, Inc. provides revolutionary digital content distribution solutions. We maintain the BitTorrent protocol, are vocal champions of the Open Source Community, and develop publishing tools that are utilized by millions of users worldwide. We are looking for a few exceptional people to help take our company to the next level. Our current open positions are in San Francisco, CA unless otherwise stated:

A note to recruiters: The fee we pay to outside recruiters is $2000/hire, NO EXCEPTIONS. We are happy to work with you under that pricing formula, but will stick to it regardless of the candidate or the internal hiring manager.

  1. Experienced Peer-to-Peer Software Engineer

BitTorrent is looking to hire an exceptional engineer with real peer to peer experience. Candidates must have written code which sends real peer to peer packets over the real internet. Simulation doesn't count. HTTP and everything else RPC-ish doesn't count. If you don't know what that last sentence means, you shouldn't apply.

This is a full time gig. BitTorrent Inc. has been around for a while but still has a significant equity stake as part of compensation. We're in downtown San Francisco, and our application is getting over a quarter of a million new installs per day.

    Requirements:

    • experience writing peer to peer software
    • fluency in C/C++

To apply for this job, send a resume, in plain text format, to: jobs@bittorrent.com and include "Experienced Peer-to-Peer Software Engineer" in the subject.

  2. Web Engineer

We seek a candidate with experience with:

    • Python
    • Pylons, Model-View-Controller Frameworks
    • Designing Scalable Web Applications
    • RESTful Web Services
    • Low level understanding of HTTP.
    • Cloud Computing, particularly Amazon Web Services, including EC2, SimpleDB, ELB, etc.
    • Modern JavaScript, Ajax

You will be working on developing the next generation of web-enabled BitTorrent services in close concert with the client development team. The challenges of the project are many, including creating a new BitTorrent user experience, building a highly available and scalable Web service, and ensuring the privacy of a potentially very large number of transactions.

To apply: please send resume and links to example code/sites to jobs@bittorrent.com. Please, no agencies. This is not a contract. Individuals only.

Take the next step:

Thank you for taking the time to review our open job requisitions. If your background matches any of the above positions, we would very much like to hear from you. If not, please take a moment to reflect upon who in your circle of friends or business associates might benefit from these opportunities and pass it along. Your selfless act may propel them on to a career of a lifetime.

Please understand that due to the large volume of responses, we are not able to acknowledge each of you individually. Be assured, however, that we will thoroughly examine each resume received and will arrange interviews with the best qualified candidates. Thanks again for considering these opportunities and we look forward to your early response.
